When you are away from home or your place of business and you need to scan something quickly, a portable scanner works great. For example, you can use a portable scanner at the local library or bookstore. It is really a lot of fun and really easy to use a portable scanner to get a simple scanning job done quickly. However, you can not compare a portable scanner to a flatbed scanner. They do have the advantage though because you cannot take a flatbed scanner with you.
